Benchmarks and Reporting

Hope you have had a wonderful week!
Highlights: successes, monthly report (Due Oct. 2), September benchmarks, enrolling children, another movie.
I've heard from a number of CHIP Program starters about successes:
- Jessica in Baltimore has conducted some mentor and child interviews
- Kemi in Apopka brought in someone to do fingerprinting for prospective mentors
- Shanelle in New Orleans is working with a school social worker to enroll children in the program
- Deloris in Pine Apple has met with prospective mentors and pitched the program to the community
- Jim in Cincinnati has connected with a local mentoring program to see how they can partner
- Lisa in Dayton has been meeting with community members
GREAT JOB EVERYONE!
I know you are all accountable for reporting qualitative stories and quantitative numbers to your site directors, but I'm excited about getting data first hand so I have a better idea of what's going on at your sites through CHIP Monthly Report:
Please submit it by October 2nd (I know some of you have paper monthly reports - you can send those in on October 2nd)
Upcoming Benchmarks:
By the end of September you should have:
-recruited 3-5 children
-recruited 3-5 mentors
-made 2 mentoring matches
*Talk to me if you are having problems meeting any of these goals
*Let me know if you have any questions about screening and enrolling mentors or children.
And last -
Another Movie:
-The Pact http://www.thepactthemovie.com/ (supposed to be good - I haven't seen it, but one of our local mentor networking organizations is screening it next month)
I look forward to reading your MONTHLY REPORTS with your September Stories and Data .
Talk to you soon.

Welcome

Across the country, we see the effects incarceration has on families, and especially on children.

This blog was created as a discussion forum for AmeriCorps Members working on mentoring programs for children of incarcerated parents across the country.

It is so valuable to hear about the similarities and differences, successes and challenges, and inspirations and frustrations we have encountered serving children, families, and mentors.

I hope this blog will connect us by providing a space for discussion, questions and answers, and inspiration as we work with a common mission in different programs in different places.
