It feels like it has been a long time!
The end of the year is getting closer and closer.
--- Next week is National Volunteer Appreciation Week ---
An early THANK YOU to everyone. You all are wonderful!
We're in the thick of recruitment here at the national office, and a number of you have decided to stay for a second year! Congratulations and thanks.
For those of you who are not staying on (and those of you who are), be sure to communicate with your site director about what you have liked about your position, what has been difficult, and what you really didn't like. This helps us evaluate our placements and recruit for next year.
For Start-up Programs:
~Let me know if you need fingerprint cards. If you need them in the next two weeks I can send them, otherwise, I'll make you a packet to send home with your Site Director from the May Site Director's meeting.
~I am updating the CHIP Coordinator handbook, please send documents you've used that have been really successful, and let me know what gaps you'd like to see filled so I can try to include helpful documents.
~Can we plan another Conference Call? The week of May 10th?

Welcome
Across the country, we see the effects incarceration has on families, and especially on children.
This blog was created as a discussion forum for AmeriCorps Members working on mentoring programs for children of incarcerated parents across the country.
It is so valuable to hear about the similarities and differences, successes and challenges, and inspirations and frustrations we have encountered serving children, families, and mentors.
I hope this blog will connect us by providing a space for discussion, questions and answers, and inspiration as we work with a common mission in different programs in different places.
