Awesome Recruitment and Preparation for 2010

I hope you all are doing well!
Thanks for your Monthly + Quarterly Reports.
In this mini-digest: recruitment, planning for next year, vacations, fingerprinting, national mentoring month)

Great Work on Volunteer Recruitment:
In the past 3 months you have collectively recruited over 130 non-AmeriCorps volunteers!
This is pretty impressive.

Planning for NEXT YEAR (service year 2010-2011):
Every 3 years we reenvision our programs, submit a new AmeriCorps Grant, and hope we can keep expanding and supporting AmeriCorps members to do amazing work.
We're planning for next year, and as members, I'd love your suggestions for the Mentoring piece of our grant. We will probably expand our scope a little - keep CHIP focus, but also open/programs to allow work with other youth.
1. We're thinking about re-naming CHIP --- WHAT SHOULD WE CALL IT?
2. Any suggestions about positions for next year? (additional sites? new positions?)
Thanks!

Vacations:
Remember to let your site supervisors and site directors know when you'll be on vacation this winter.
If you're going out of town, also make sure to let your mentors, mentees, and families are aware, and that they know who they should contact if necessary.

I'll be out of the office from the afternoon of December 22 through January 4th, so if you need anything from me let me know at the beginning of next week. I'll be checking email, but my response time will be slower. You can also reach me on my cell.

Fingerprints
:
-SafetyNET, where we submit our fingerprints to be checked, will be closed Dec. 23-25 and 30-Jan. 1, so any fingerprints sent in at this time will be a little delayed.
-Let me know if I should expect any fingerprints from you next week so I can submit them before I leave for vacation.

January: National Mentoring Month! It's coming up!
Get Excited. It's all about celebrating your mentors, mentees, and you and the work you all do.

Until next week,

Welcome

Across the country, we see the effects incarceration has on families, and especially on children.

This blog was created as a discussion forum for AmeriCorps Members working on mentoring programs for children of incarcerated parents across the country.

It is so valuable to hear about the similarities and differences, successes and challenges, and inspirations and frustrations we have encountered serving children, families, and mentors.

I hope this blog will connect us by providing a space for discussion, questions and answers, and inspiration as we work with a common mission in different programs in different places.
